The Olympic Security Coordinating Council was established with the No. III Ministerial Decision of Feb. 5, 2004 (Government Gazette A26/5-2-2004), and will operate between July 1, 2004 and Oct. 4, 2004.

The Minister of Public Order chairs the Council, with co-participants being relevant Ministers in charge of various Olympic Games security issues.

The Council`s first meeting convened on March 16, 2004 as part of the framework of the "Hercules Shield 2004" exercise on March 10-23, 2004.
